How do you get everyone to quit smoking
without a top down government mandated ban? By offering free healthier alternatives, obviously! It is known that lot of younger people will naturally bandwagon onto whatever they see their peers doing, and the city of Manchester is making an attempt at utilizing that fact by offering free eLiquids and vaporizers to their youth for pledging at their local pharmacies to not to take up combustible smoking.
After receiving the free vape wares from their pharmacies, those who are current smokers are also offered free smoking cessation support, which encourages people to quit smoking altogether. The use of vaping is one way that the Manchester health practitioners have identified as a way to help smokers quit for good.
Manchester is trying their best to make sure that there is a shift in the direction of vaping as well as making sure that just because eLiquids may also contain nicotine, their public is well informed on the facts of smoking versus vaping. Vaping does not produce cancer-causing carcinogens which smoking tobacco does, as vaping by it's nature filters out the tar, hundreds of chemicals, and carbon dioxide.
Research has shown that any smoker is capable of quitting smoking permanently after getting enough solid support. Manchester in addition to providing the free vape gear also offers a free stop smoking helpline which is available 24/7. Smokers who call in are guided through the quitting process, and the success rate of these campaigns have proven themselves to be quite high.
At the end of the day, no government wants to lose its citizens in the name of preventable diseases like smoking. If we can only be so lucky as to get even a whiff of this common sense form of governing, maybe we in the states should follow suit to what the Manchester health practitioners have done to save the lives of their smokers.
